Eddie Murphy Documentary 'Eddie' Coming to Netflix

On Thursday (Jan. 30th), Netflix announced a new documentary film chronicling the life and career of superstar stand up comedian and actor Eddie Murphy is set to hit the popular streamer this fall. “Eddie” will explore his meteoric rise from teen comic to Saturday Night Live breakout to box office titan.
In his own words, the Oscar nominated actor will open up his home and dive deep into his eclectic, monumental career.
The 63-year-old will also address entertaining three generations of fans with a filmography that spans comedy, action, drama, animation and more. Additionally, friends, comedic peers, and past directors and co-stars are set to appear in the film to offer insight on Eddie’s prolific career that spans nearly 50 years.
Two time Oscar award winning editor Angus Wall serves as director with producers John Davis, John Fox, Charisse Hewitt, Terry Leonard and Kent Kubena assisting.
The announcement was one of many made as part of the services’s promotional event, Next on Netflix. During the annual showcase of films, series and games, Netflix’s Chief Content Officer, Bela Bajaria, promised exciting new things were in the works for their millions of fans.
Murphy most recently reprised his role as Detective Axel Foley in Netflix’s Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F, he can also be seen in the comedy “You People” which is also on Netflix. Upcoming, he has the Amazon MGM heist pic “The Pickup” as well as a “Pink Panther" movie for the same studio, and “Shrek 5” where he will return as Donkey.
