J. Cole joins the Charlotte Hornets as a minority owner following the NBA's approval of Michael Jordan's sale. ESPN reports that the group led by millionaire Gabe Plotkin and Rick Schnall secured the team in a 29-1 vote, with the New York Knicks' owner, James Dolan, being the sole dissenter.
In June 2023, initial reports emerged indicating J. Cole's intention to become a part-owner of the Charlotte team. Following Michael Jordan's announcement of selling his majority stake in the NBA team, Cole, being a North Carolina native, signed a contract to join the ownership.
The Charlotte Hornets were sold for around $3 billion, and the sale is expected to be finalized within the next one to two weeks. In celebration, J. Cole's close friend and business partner, Ibrahim H., expressed gratitude for Cole on Twitter. “Official. Congrats to my dawg @JColeNC,” he tweeted on Sunday July 23rd.

As the NBA finalizes the deal, Michael Jordan's ownership era for the franchise comes to a close. However, he will remain a minority owner alongside country singer Eric Church, Chris Shumway, Dan Sundheim, Ian Loring, and Dyal HomeCourt Partners. The acquisition also includes involvement from several local Charlotte investors, such as Amy Levine Dawson and Damian Mills.
“Hornets Sports & Entertainment announced today that chairman Michael Jordan has reached an agreement to sell his majority stake in the Charlotte Hornets to a group led by Gabe Plotkin and Rick Schnall,” the press release read. “As a part of the transaction, Jordan will retain a minority ownership share of the team. The transaction is subject to the approval of the NBA Board of Governors.”
J. Cole could be stepping into an great opportunity with the Hornets. Despite finishing 14th in the Eastern Conference last season, the team boasts an impressive roster of young stars. With LaMelo Ball already on board and the recent addition of Brandon Miller as the 2nd overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, the Hornets have the potential to become a formidable force, much like the Sacramento Kings.

North Carolina artist, Josh Cozy, talks the release of his latest album, It’s Prolly Too Late! His last project Black Smilez, was definitely a great EP, but Josh turns it up a notch with this project. You can definitely hear the growth from the last project to this one, and when speaking about what separates this project from his previous, Josh says,
“Maturity. Me, Stepping into who I want to be even more. Investing into the craft. Sound quality, production and overall lyrical content/storytelling. I worked really hard on this one. Had to grind it out! It feels special.”
Josh Cozy
The title itself is relatable to what's been going on in the past year with the pandemic, and people trying to find themselves and recreate themselves despite the circumstances.
“I’ve been in a phase of life where I personally counted myself out just due to all the chaos going on outside in a way. I felt like it’s been self sabotage in a sense. This year 2021... it’s been a great start for me on all levels. I’m finally getting back to myself. So the project ‘It’s prolly too late’ stemmed from that.”
Josh Cozy
The project features 10 tracks, and each track is fire. This is a no skips project that you can play in the car and just vibe to. It’s hard to pick a favorite track but our personal favorite is the final track “Of Me”, as Josh finishes off this project with a bang.
“Must listen is definitely ‘Change for you’ and I say that because I believe we’ve all been there before. At some point, we’ve all dealt with the rocky relationship/situationship or whatever you may want to call it.
Favorite track probably is ‘These Feelings’ featuring Jae Breeze. He actually gave me that track and just the overall content up there. Speaking on family and mental dealings. It was a release!”
Josh Cozy speaks his truth on every track, discussing overcoming relationship issues, and everyday issues. When speaking on the overall message of the project, Josh says,
“Most importantly, on ‘Of Me’ which is the outro of the project, I spoke freely on never casting yourself out of things. While you breathing, still here.... we got the time. It’s never too late to take a shot at things in life. Choose your perspective and navigate best you can.”
Every project Josh Cozy drops speaks about growth and listening to each track, you can definitely see the evolution in his music as well as overall maturity. As far as what we can expect from him in the future:
“Continuing to drop music/visual content all year long! Super excited for these videos from the project that are on the way! I feel they bring it to life even more!”

North Carolina rapper, William Prize, dropped a hot new album titled Up From Here. We talked with William Prize in an exclusive interview, check it out here!
“I want the fans to know how much gratitude I have for every play, share, or like. It really means a lot to me! It’s only up from here!!!”

North Carolina rapper, William Prize, dropped a hot new album titled Up From Here. The title says it all! With the release of this album, it’s no doubt Prize is on the way up.
“Firstly I want to say thank you for having me on your platform yet again! Deeply appreciate the good folks over at 24/7 live culture”
How did you come up with the name for the project? What was your inspiration?
“Yeah man, Up From Here actually started as “Fruition” the album, and shortly after I changed it to “Will To Live” the EP . A good friend of mine and I had a plethora of conversations about life, where we currently stood as men, the vibes of Fayetteville, NC’s highly talented but slept on music scene and many other things. Before he passed on the night of my first radio interview with DJ dowdy at 104.5fm, he sent me a video which is actually the clip you hear on the intro to the album. I was just looking back at our last text threads and he had told me it was only “Up From Here” and I decided to go with that name to honor him. RIP to my brother John smith.”
The album features 12 tracks with features from fellow rising artists Ahmad Latif, Cidy Pyramids, Lyneyis Neptune, Feleice, JacqueO, VilleBoy Rand, and Miracle The Alien. Every last one of these tracks is a banger! Our personal favorites are “Many Men/Fall Short” and “Ceiling Flows, Pt. 3”.
What is a must listen track? Your favorite?
“I would say the whole project honestly but I guess track 1. Hearing the other tracks always sounds better after I’ve heard 83ft/ helipad flows.”
William Prize is dropping the music that Hip Hop needs right now. While the industry is flooded with main stream rappers pouring out lyrics lacking substance, Prize is maintaining the true essence of Hip Hop by laying conscious lyrics on every track. Each track is relatable in its own way and speaks to ups and downs that today’s Black men go through on a daily basis.
What was the overall message you wanted to send with this project?
To be present . . . Acknowledge and appreciate the work and efforts it took to get where you currently stand but to always work harder to rise higher, to further, to maximize, to grow. Also not to fear anything life sends your way. Fear is slavery. And we free outchea you dig!
Prize’s last project, Dirty Game was a top tier project but he definitely stepped up his game for this album and there are no skips!
What separates this project from your previous?
“A lot! The energy is completely different. The music has more purpose and soul on up from here than dirty game. Honestly Dirty Game was just a mix of throw aways that didn’t make the album and songs I just wanted to release before it was too late, whatever too late is.”
What can we look forward to in the future?
“I just want my fans (whom I’m now referring to as the gift box) to know they can always look forward to growth and hearing what need to be heard as for 2021 I plan on shooting videos for the entire album! Most people don’t do that but I feel the project is just that important.”

William Prize Talks The Release Of His LP "Dirty Game"
North Carolina rapper William Prize dropped one of the hottest projects of this year, titled Dirty Game! Check it out here!
“The name of this project is based on 2020’s vibes as a whole. It’s been a rough year… A lot of death, change, and setbacks so the name dirty game describes all of that I feel.”

North Carolina rapper William Prize dropped one of the hottest projects of this year, titled Dirty Game! If you’re looking for a complete project, no SKIPS, this is it! The title of the project speaks speaks to his perspective on 2020 as a whole.
“The name of this project is based on 2020’s vibes as a whole. It’s been a rough year… A lot of death, change, and setbacks so the name dirty game describes all of that I feel.”
His previous project “I am Prize Vol” was solid and this project definitely did not disappoint. Prize is preparing to release his 1st album in the near future.
“Honestly I just wanted to ride the waves of my last project “I am Prize vol. 1” while getting people excited for my first official album “Up From Here”. Also these are a bunch of loose tracks, and tracks that didn’t make the albums revision.”
It’s hard to choose a top track for this project but our favorites for this project are “Hibachi” and “Clocxs” as both speak to real situations in relationships as well as bring a true 90s hip hop vibe.
“For me the answer my favorite tracks are interchangeable between the songs “Dirty Game” and the following track “Rebox”. Both songs intel a lot of things that perspired during my personal life and all of the current events occurring in the media, particularly in the African American and Latino communities, while also giving off crazy vibes with production from myself and Cidy Pyramids. Both of those are more than necessary listens!”
William Prize separates himself from other mainstream artists out today by continuing to evolve from project to project and maintaining authenticity within his lyrics by speaking on real issues. Progression is an element that Prize expects to push his projects forward.
“The progression for sure, that’s really what you can expect from any of my next projects; progression, and it being the separating factor from my last.”
With the pandemic affecting the world in many different ways, artists have had to adapt and stay creative, which is not an easy task.
“I think the pandemic gave me time to get more creative, take it back to the garage days with this shit, you know? Also gave me a lot of time to cross my t’s and dot my i’s business wise so it wasn’t hard staying focused at all for me.”
Dirty Game is a definite must listen and a good preliminary project to set up his album release.
“‘UP FROM HERE’ COMING SOON ! THATS IT! I just wanna thank everyone for tapping into this interview and with my music as well, it means a lot to me.”
