In recent years, the beauty industry has seen a welcome shift towards inclusivity and representation, with brands increasingly recognizing the diverse needs of consumers. Among these trailblazers is Topicals, a skincare brand that has captured the hearts of the Black community with its innovative products and commitment to addressing common skin concerns while celebrating individuality and style.

Founded by Olamide Olowe and Claudia Teng, Topicals emerged from a shared vision to create a skincare brand that prioritizes effectiveness, accessibility, and inclusivity. Drawing from their personal experiences with skin conditions like eczema and hyperpigmentation, Olamide and Claudia set out to develop products that not only deliver results but also empower individuals to embrace their skin with confidence.

At the heart of Topicals' mission is a dedication to serving marginalized communities, particularly the Black community, which has historically been underserved and overlooked by mainstream beauty brands. By centering the needs and experiences of Black consumers, Topicals is challenging conventional beauty standards and fostering a more inclusive approach to skincare.

One of the standout features of Topicals is its bold and vibrant branding, which celebrates Black culture and embraces individuality. From eye-catching packaging adorned with colorful illustrations to product names like "Faded," "Like Butter," and "Lightweight," Topicals infuses each aspect of its brand identity with personality and flair.

The baseline of this aesthetics were seeing the amazing influencer women on a PR Trip celebrating topicals. With bare face or minimal makeup the girls have constantly made this a fashion trend. However, beyond aesthetics, Topicals is making a real difference in the lives of its customers through its innovative skincare solutions. Take, for example, their hero product, "Faded," a brightening and clearing gel designed to address hyperpigmentation and dark spots.

Formulated with powerhouse ingredients like tranexamic acid, niacinamide, and licorice root extract, "Faded" delivers visible results while being gentle enough for sensitive skin—a game-changer for individuals struggling with uneven skin tone.

Another standout product is "Like Butter," a hydrating mask that soothes and nourishes dry, irritated skin. Packed with ingredients like shea butter, colloidal oatmeal, and allantoin, "Like Butter" provides instant relief for conditions like eczema and dermatitis, helping individuals reclaim control over their skincare routines.

What sets Topicals apart from other skincare brands is its commitment to community engagement and education. Through social media campaigns, virtual events, and partnerships with influencers and organizations, Topicals actively fosters dialogue around skin health and self-care within the Black community. By amplifying diverse voices and sharing personal stories, Topicals creates a sense of belonging and empowerment, inspiring individuals to embrace their skin journeys with confidence and pride.

Sometimes in the beauty world, the stand is to prioritize Eurocentric ideals, granted, Topicals is a breath of fresh air, championing diversity, inclusivity, and self-expression. By providing effective skincare solutions tailored to the unique needs of the Black community, Topicals is not only helping individuals achieve healthier, glowing skin but also fostering a sense of empowerment and celebration of individuality.

As the beauty industry continues to evolve, brands like Topicals serve as beacons of progress, paving the way for a more inclusive and representative future where everyone can feel seen, heard, and beautiful in their skin. With its innovative products and unwavering commitment to community, Topicals is leading the charge towards a more inclusive and stylish skincare revolution.

Black Radiance Celebrates 30th Anniversary With Makeup Sessions In LA

To proudly acknowledge the brand's 30th anniversary, the Black Radiance team brought the celebration back home to LA with makeup sessions at the West Hollywood Edition. We discuss it here!

By: Sharmaine Johnson

As a trusted brand that amplifies black voices and celebrates heritage and perspectives worldwide, Black Radiance has truly lived up to its mission of empowering women of color. The girls love Black Radiance not only for its impeccable quality but also for its cruelty-free, affordable, and multi-functional products. You don't have to worry about not finding a shade for yourself in the Black Radiance beauty section. All products are on-trend and created with the latest technology, offering a diverse range of colors and tones for all shades and looks.

To proudly acknowledge the brand's 30th anniversary, the Black Radiance team brought the celebration back home to LA with makeup sessions featuring a professional MUA at the West Hollywood Edition.

Let's dive into the experience!

From start to finish, I received princess treatment. I arrived in style in a Tesla Model 3 thanks to the $75 Uber code compliments of the BR team. Upon arriving at the hotel, I was escorted by the staff to the private suite where the celebration and makeup session would take place. As soon as I entered the space, I was greeted with warm welcomes, delectable small bites, and freshly squeezed juices.

The suite was incredible. From the comfort of the living area to the luxurious marble floors in the bathroom and the extended balcony with breathtaking views, the aesthetics and vibes were perfect. After checking out the space and meeting everyone, it was time for my radiant transformation. Celebrity makeup artist Kim Page demonstrated how to achieve a stunning gold eyeshadow look and introduced me to some of Black Radiance's newest products and how to use them.

The new True Complexion Longwear Concealer is perfect for those who want to conceal and heal dark circles simultaneously. The formula is infused with caffeine, sodium hyaluronate, and Vitamin C to help reduce the appearance of hyperpigmentation, blemishes, and facial imperfections. This concealer is a versatile product, serving as a concealer, foundation, or even a highlighter with medium to full coverage.

For all the lash lovers, you need to try the Eye Appeal Length & Volume Mascara. Sometimes, you need a break from lash extensions and strips to care for your natural lashes. The biotin-infused formula enhances, lifts, and creates visibly longer-looking lashes for those days when you need a break but still want to look glamorous. By the end of my makeup session, I had a thorough understanding of eyeshadow basics and all the products I'd need to complete a full look. If you're in search of affordable, quality makeup with a wide range of shades for beautiful black skin, then you need to shop with Black Radiance.

Thank you, Black Radiance, for a fantastic celebratory makeup session experience! Cheers to another 30 years.

Ulta Beauty is a treasure trove of beauty products and has consistently acted as a platform for influencers and entrepreneurs to introduce their product collections.

Here are some fan-favorite choices.

Tabitha Brown

Donna’s Recipe by Tabitha Brown

Tabitha Brown, an influencer, cook, fashion designer, accomplished writer, and true queen of glam, has recently introduced a new haircare line called Donna's Recipe, named after her perfect afro. With product names like ‘Sweet Potato Pie Extra Creamy Cream Strength and Scalp Oil’ and her biotin hair vitamin gummies, she knows how to captivate individuals with her products. She maintains affordability and accessibility with prices ranging from $15.00 to $25.00. Tabitha has added creativity to the haircare world, allowing true girls to embrace their natural curls.

Adding to the excitement for the health-conscious Black woman, Golde by Trinity Mouzon Wofford has elevated her superfood supplements to top-tier status. She began crafting these products in her Brooklyn apartment in 2017 and knew how to make Golde the best it could be. Like Tabitha Brown, Wofford uses enticing names for her products, making them just as delectable as the prices. Products like Pineapple Debloat, Coconut Collagen Boost, and Watermelon Glow Hyaluronic Skin are all reasonably priced at only $18.00 and come in packs of 15 servings, keeping customers coming back for more.

Abena Boamah Acheampon

Continuing the trend, Abena Boamah Acheampong has also joined the Ulta team, launching her line of body butter called hanahana. Abena has always believed in the importance of self-care rituals, so it's no surprise that she introduced a skincare line that imparts a feel-good aura. She imports shea butter from Ghana, giving her formula the ultimate melanin glow. Abena's products are intentionally designed with four different options to ensure the best results for all skin types. With prices ranging from $12.00 to $32.00, including exfoliating body soap and a detoxifying skin mask, everyone can find the perfect affordable skincare combo.
