Rakiyah Discusses Studying Abroad and Her Single 'Crash Landing on You'

New Jersey singer, Rakiyah, is taking alternative R&B to the next level! Rakiyah brings a vibe to her music that rivals artists such as SZA and Doja Cat. This versatile artist also has the ability to rap as showcased in her single “Naughty X Nature”.

I think it stands out the most amongst my discography. It’s one of my funnest tracks I’ve done, to be honest. I love it. I love the versatility of it. I don’t really want to be in one box with my R&B or alternative R&B. I just want to vibe and have a good time.

Rakiyah recently released her single “Crash Landing On You” which she produced and released through Rakiyah records. This artist has several talents as she also speaks Korean and incorporates it into her music. After spending time in Korea, Rakiyah was able to blend her own musical style with Korean sounds. You can here her sing in Korean in her songs “Like You” and “The Invitation.”

Aside from music, Rakiyah also is a former aerospace engineer. Her resume is stamped as she continues to showcase her talents in the musical space now.

Rakiyah wants to expand past music and even get into the acting space in the future. She wants to be an example of showing that you can do multiple things and be different at the same time. Rakiyah wants to be a good example to her younger sisters and show them that anything Is possible.

Rakiyah also discussed the dedication needed to carry herself along her journey. In her latest episode of BoomBox Weekly, she discussed funding her own projects, and creating her own visuals for her songs. Being an independent artist comes with a lot of ups and downs and Rakiyah is certainly pushing through barriers despite any obstacles.

Rakiyah’s music is full of feels good sounds and is definitely an artist that th republic should get behind. Her original sound and unique style sets her apart from other artists today and you will certainly hear more from this rising artist.
