Nipsey Hussle Murderer Sentenced to 60 Years in Prison
Eric Holder Jr., who was convicted of murdering rapper Nipsey Hussle received 60 years to life in prison. We discuss it here!

Eric Holder Jr., the man who was convicted for murdering rapper Nipsey Hussle back in 2019 in front of his Marathon clothing store, was sentenced to 60 years to life in prison.

Holder received 25 years to life on the murder charge, another 25 years to life since a gun was used and an additional 10 years for shooting two other men on that same day, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Ermias Asghedom, Hussle, was gunned down by Holder after a brief conversation between the two. Holder returned minutes later and began opening fire in the parking lot killing Hussle and wounding two other men.
According to reports, the two belonged to the same gang - the Rollin 60s of the Crips, however Nipsey in the later years of his life worked to stop gang violence and broker peace between rival gangs.
“Neighborhood Nip”, as he was affectionately called, often traveled the area without security despite his celebrity status to interact with patrons and fans.
The rapper’s murder at the age of 33 sent shockwaves throughout the hip hop community and the city of Los Angeles. The marathon clothing store where he was killed became a memorial where thousands came from across the world to pay their respects.
The Marathon Clothing Store
The agony still resonates deep within the L.A. community three years after the Grammy Nominated winners death. Herman “Cowboy” Douglas, a friend, expressed those sentiments in this statement.
“Nipsey was my friend, he was like a son, he was like a dad. Our community right now, we lost everything, everything we worked for. One man’s mistake, one man’s action, messed up a whole community.”
Since his death, Hussle’s metaphor for overcoming the struggles of life The Marathon Continues can be seen posted on social media as tributes to the fallen rapper.
Holder’s sentencing closes an ugly chapter in what seems to be a trend in today’s society of senseless gun violence.
In 2022, Hussle was honored by receiving his star on the Hollywood Walk of fame cementing his status as a hometown hero.
His girlfriend Lauren London addressed the crowd honoring Hussle.
Lauren London speaking at Nipsey Hussle Walk of Fame ceremony
“I think I speak for the entire city of LA when I say that we’ve always known that Hussle was destined for greatness. Nip would’ve been honored by this moment. So whenever you’re in the City of Angels, and you see this star, I hope that it encourages you to break away from whatever might be holding you back, and for you to run your marathon until God says that it’s finished.”
With that being said… #TheMarathonContinues 🏁🏁

This year has been an amazing year for many hip hop artists from nomination to winning awards. The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame announced 14 nominees for this year's class including some hip hop heavyweights Missy Elliott and A Tribe Called Quest. The two are among hip hop royalty when it comes to creation and paving their own lanes in the industry.
Missy Elliott, the iconic rapper and producer, has been nominated for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame class of 2023. This is a major milestone in her career and a testament to her impact on the music industry.
Missy is highly regarded as one of the pioneers of hip hop and R&B from her artistic creativity style. Her innovative style that she brought to the game of hip hop was crazy. Her debut album Supa Dupa Fly was released in 1997 which I believe is a certified CLASSIC! The production of the album is A1 on how she blends hip hop, R&B, and funk music all together, which. is still heavily inspired today. Throughout her career, Missy has released six studio albums and has collaborated with numerous artists, including Aaliyah, Timbaland, Ginuwine.
Her impact on music extends far beyond her own discography, but her innovative music videos, which often feature her as the main character and creative director, have been praised for their creativity and impact on the music video industry. I can remember when I was a kid watching her videos when I was younger thinking she had some of the dopest music videos in the game.
A Tribe Called Quest, pioneers in their own right are by far one of the most influential hip-hop groups of all time, has just been nominated for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. This news has been met with widespread excitement and joy from fans and music lovers.
A Tribe Called Quest
ATCQ are known for their unique approach to hip hop such as their native tongues style and conscious lyrics. The groups first three albums People's Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm, The Low End Theory, and Midnight Marauders are stamped as hip hop history. The group has left an indelible mark on the music industry and has inspired countless artists over the years.
The Afrocentric style in their music was amazing and continues to last the test of time in hip hop history. The style is evident in their music and lyrics which often focuses on themes of African and African American culture, history, and consciousness. Even the fashion choices they incorporated from African fashion helped them shape and define a huge part of the hip hop genre.

Torrence “Boosie” Hatch was arrested in 2008 after having possession of marijuana and a firearm in his car. After pleading guilty to the drug charges, Boosie was sentenced to two years in prison, which led to his late summer 2010 first degree murder charge.
Boosie wants to be the next rapper granted a pardon from the government. This past weekend, Meek Mell received a pardon from the governor of Pennsylvania. Meeek received many kind words from social media and from Boosie, who also took to Twitter to ask Louisiana to free him from his record.

— Boosie BadAzz (@BOOSIEOFFICIAL) January 14, 2023
Before the prison time, Boosie was a rising underground artist who was on the verge of having real mainstream success. “Wipe Me Down” was and still is a smash hit for the culture. He talked with the Big Facts Podcast about his upbringings in his early life before he made a name in the rap game.
“I would’ve done it totally different if I could take it back, ’cause I ain’t wanna go to jail, man.”

Robert “Meek Mill” Williams was found guilty of drug and weapons charges in 2008, similar to Boosie. Meek was sentenced up to two years in prison, but he only served eight months and did 10 years of probation. Since then, Meek has been fighting a legal battle with the Philadelphia court system. In 2017, he was arrested and sentenced to four years in state prison for violating probation.
Meek received his aforementioned pardon from Pennsylvania Governor, Tom Wolf on January 12. He posted the signed certificate of him being free from his criminal record. Meek promises to do good things for his community, to help with schools and to help low income students get scholarships for the 2023-2024 calendar school year. He will be partnering with Kevin Hart and Fanatics CEO, Michael Rubin, to help the community in Philadelphia.

Who is the Greatest Rapper of this Generation?
Who is the Greatest Rapper of this Generation? Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, Drake have to be at the top, right? We discuss it here!
By: Adonis Armstrong
If you had a poll to see who’s was the greatest rapper of this generation who would you vote for? The top of your list may look like this Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, or Drake? Some lists may look different when it comes to the topic. I say it depends on the person that is getting asked because everyone has their own opinion and catergories such as backpack, conscious, trap, drill rap, and even melodic rap .
Each Hip Hop catergory has a different vibe and element to it. Although you have some rappers that can step into any of the catergories and do well in each. The New York Times put a claim to Kung Fu Kenny aka Kendrick Lamar as this generations greatest rapper. I can agree too as Kendrick has dropped some classic albums for the culture such as good kid, m.A.A.D city, To Pimp a Butterfly, DAMN, and of course Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers. K. Dot has definitely put in some work to get such high praise.
On another hand you have J. Cole. The North Carolina native should be put in the discussion as well. He has done a lot for the culture since being heard on a mainstream level. Some of his most classic albums are Born Sinner, 2014 Forest Hills Drive, 4 Your Eyez Only, and The Off-Season. These alone put him in any type of discussion for the title for the generation.
Let’s get to one of the most loved and hated artists in the game, Drake. He has had the game on lock since 2009 when he dropped his classic mixtape, So Far Gone. Drake is a little different from the top too but hate it or love, it he has put in work to be at the top. Take Care, Nothing Was the Same, If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late, and Views are top notch albums from the 6 God from Toronto.
Honorable Mentions - Other rappers who should have a seat at the table in this discussion.
BIG K.R.I.T.
The Mississippi rapper has great quality work and is a house hold name in the game. He does majority of his own production such as J. Cole. K.R.I.T. also received high praise from Wiz Khalfa, stating he thinks Krizzle should win a grammy soon. Good albums to go listen to are Cadillactica, 4eva is a Mighty Long Time, K.R.I.T. IZ HERE, and Digital Roses Don’t Die.
Cyhi The Prynce
The Atlanta based rapper is very witty with the pen and what I mentioned earlier, can do all catergories of Hip Hop. Look no further than the Prynce. Although he only has one studio album, No Dope On Sundays, he has writing credits from major artists such Kanye West, Travis Scott, and more.
nba YoungBoy
The Louisiana rapper will probably have you scratching your head but he has the streets on lock for this generation. He has a unique sound that people in the south can relate to. His fanbase is the same or even bigger than some of the artist above. I can’t really say an album because YoungBoy puts out music literally every quarter of the year.
Lil Baby
This Atlanta rapper is becoming a phenom and has the hits to prove he can be at the table this generation. He had a special on Prime called Untrapped: The Story of Lil Baby that followed a little part of his life in the music industry. Baby has became a voice especially when he dropped The Bigger Picture during covid, which had some meaning to it for the culture.
Yes there is more that can be at the table for the discussion, but these are a few artists I think are deserving for a shot at the title for this generation.

By: Omar Cook
Compton artist 1TakeOcho dropped his new EP titled Ocho III. 1TakeOcho has been consistently dropping heat since his first project Ocho.
“The name of the project started when I dropped the first Ocho EP. I didn’t know what else to call it so I kept it simple and used my name. I wanted to drop this EP because it’s been almost 9 months since my last project dropped and in between that I dropped one single which was “Love” ft. my guys Griff Tyler and Xian Bell. It was time for me to drop some more content, build my catalog for people, and get heard some more. And also it’s the summer!”
1TakeOcho has set a high standard for himself and his fans by releasing top quality music with consistency. You can hear the growth from project to project as he pours his real life into the lyrics.
“This particular EP shows a lot of growth in my music as far as the quality of the music as well as the videos I’ll be putting out for it. The cover art is me with my college degree, my graduation cap, a football, and a mic which symbolizes my journey in life. I recently just finished school while working a job and pursuing my music career. I just want to motivate people and let them know that anything is possible and forget all the excuses. As long as you put the work in, stay dedicated, passionate, and consistent, everything will fall in place for you.”
1TakeOcho - Different ft. Kalan.FrFr (Official Music Video)
The project features 8 hot tracks with some dope features including 1TakeJay, Kalan.FrFr, Tyler J., 1TakeQuan, Griff Tyler, and Xian Bell! This is a project that has no skips as each track has it’s own feel from upbeat tracks like “Homebody” to a more mellow track like “Right By You”. Our personal favorite: “Homebody”, a song you’ll have on repeat!
“A must listen to track in my opinion is all of them lol my favorite track on there changes all the time. One day I’m loving “Homebody” more than anything. The next day I’m loving “Right by you” more. Another day “Walk Through” becomes my favorite.”
1TakeOcho - Homebody ft. 1TakeJay (Official Music Video)
1TakeOcho has already dropped 3 videos to accompany his EP for his tracks “Homebody”, “Different”, and “Love”.
“The quality of music and the visuals for it is what separates it from my previous stuff. Although my previous project “Undeniable” had good quality, the goal is to outwork yesterday. Or in other words outwork yourself and your previous work. I feel like that’s what I’m doing.”
1TakeOcho already has plans to continue to release new music and visuals and is establishing himself as one of the top rising artists on the West Coast. With a solid mix of R and B and rap, this project has a track for just about any mood.
“Hopefully y’all will be seeing my name and face more often. I feel like I’m going in the right direction by putting out good content and staying consistent with it.”

Snoh Aalegra and G Herbo With New July Albums Dropping
By: Cory Utsey
June was an amazing month for music. From albums alone, we got an amazing amount of range from Tyler, the Creator’s “CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST”, H.E.R’s “Back Of My Mind”, Doja Cat’s “Planet Her” and even Justine Skye’s “Space & Time”. In regards to singles, Megan Thee Stallion’s “Thot Sh*t” and Jazmine Sullivan’s “Tragic” allowed us to go from screaming “We Outside!” to reflecting on time that needs to be reclaimed.
With all of this in mind, June’s releases have quite the competition. However, July started off with “Wasting Time”, a collaboration between Brent Faiyaz and Drake that was produced by The Neptunes, so it already seems as though this month will have some great contenders.
Here are five album releases to look out for this July.
G Herbo, “25” - July 2
Kicking off the first “New Music Friday” of the month is G Herbo with the release of his LP “25”. Herbo told Complex that the project, pronounced as “Two Five”, celebrates both his age and the significance of the resultant of “2+5”; he states that seven signifies “the guardian”. “25” also pays homage to the people in his life who did not make it to 25, such as his brother and a close friend. The 19-track project, which features artists such as Gunna, 21 Savage and Polo G, comes over a year after “PTSD”.
Amorphous, “Things Take Shape” - July 7
Amorphous, a DJ and producer known on social media for creating amazing mash-ups, will be releasing his debut EP on July 7 called “Things Take Shape”. He first went viral for his mash-up of Rihanna’s “Kiss It Better” and Luther Vandross’s “Never Too Much” in late 2020. The accolades from this mix landed him a call from Fat Joe, who vied to use the mix for a song. The song, called “Sunshine” came out in January and features DJ Khaled. Although the EP is not slated to come out until the seventh, two tracks (“Back Together” featuring Kehlani and “Finally (Cannot Hide It) with Kelly Rowland and Cece Piston) are already out.
Snoh Aalegra, “TEMPORARY HIGHS IN THE VIOLET SKIES” - July 9
Smooth and soulful singer Snoh Aalegra announced on June 7 via Instagram that she would be releasing a new album, “TEMPORARY HIGHS IN THE VIOLET SKIES”. On June 16, she released one track from the album, called “LOST YOU”. This album comes a year after the release of the single “DYING 4 YOUR LOVE” (which will be featured on this upcoming album), and three years after her second studio album, “Ugh, Those Feels Again”.
WILLOW, “lately I feel EVERYTHING” - July 16
Willow Smith constantly gives Black alternative-music lovers something to rock to, and it seems as though lovers of that genre will be getting more of the sort on July 16. She released two singles already: “t r a n s p a r e n t s o u l” featuring Travis Barker in April and “Lipstick” in June, Known for her creative, experimental style, this album comes a little over a year after the release of “THE ANXIETY”, a collaborative project with Tyler Cole and THE ANXIETY.
Pop Smoke, “Pop Smoke” - July 16
Gracing the world with another posthumous album, Pop Smoke’s team announced they would be releasing the self-titled album on July 16. This is the second posthumous album to be released on his behalf, with the first one (“Shoot for the Stars Aim for the Moon”) having been released in July 2020 with much critical acclaim. “I want the fans to know how much gratitude I have for every play, share, or like. It really means a lot to me! It’s only up from here!!!”
By: Omar Cook
North Carolina artist, Josh Cozy, talks the release of his latest album, It’s Prolly Too Late! His last project Black Smilez, was definitely a great EP, but Josh turns it up a notch with this project. You can definitely hear the growth from the last project to this one, and when speaking about what separates this project from his previous, Josh says,
“Maturity. Me, Stepping into who I want to be even more. Investing into the craft. Sound quality, production and overall lyrical content/storytelling. I worked really hard on this one. Had to grind it out! It feels special.”
Josh Cozy
The title itself is relatable to what's been going on in the past year with the pandemic, and people trying to find themselves and recreate themselves despite the circumstances.
“I’ve been in a phase of life where I personally counted myself out just due to all the chaos going on outside in a way. I felt like it’s been self sabotage in a sense. This year 2021... it’s been a great start for me on all levels. I’m finally getting back to myself. So the project ‘It’s prolly too late’ stemmed from that.”
Josh Cozy
The project features 10 tracks, and each track is fire. This is a no skips project that you can play in the car and just vibe to. It’s hard to pick a favorite track but our personal favorite is the final track “Of Me”, as Josh finishes off this project with a bang.
“Must listen is definitely ‘Change for you’ and I say that because I believe we’ve all been there before. At some point, we’ve all dealt with the rocky relationship/situationship or whatever you may want to call it.
Favorite track probably is ‘These Feelings’ featuring Jae Breeze. He actually gave me that track and just the overall content up there. Speaking on family and mental dealings. It was a release!”
Josh Cozy speaks his truth on every track, discussing overcoming relationship issues, and everyday issues. When speaking on the overall message of the project, Josh says,
“Most importantly, on ‘Of Me’ which is the outro of the project, I spoke freely on never casting yourself out of things. While you breathing, still here.... we got the time. It’s never too late to take a shot at things in life. Choose your perspective and navigate best you can.”
Every project Josh Cozy drops speaks about growth and listening to each track, you can definitely see the evolution in his music as well as overall maturity. As far as what we can expect from him in the future:
“Continuing to drop music/visual content all year long! Super excited for these videos from the project that are on the way! I feel they bring it to life even more!”

As female rappers' visibility and profile within hip-hop continue to elevate, there seem to be growing discussions on who's-who and where each of them "fit" within the culture. Through the late 90s to 2010s, there was a drought in regards to female rapping talent. Outside of Nicki Minaj, fans were hard-pressed to see more than one female act on the forefront in mainstream hip-hop. However, thanks to streaming, social media, and defiant pushbacks against long-held industry sexism, the landscape has shifted, and there are more diverse acts in the game today than ever before. It's safe to say that we are experiencing a Female Rap Renaissance.
Despite this new boom of artists, much of the online conversation centers on stereotypes or lanes they're expected to operate in. These "labelings," in turn, shape audiences' perception of the artist, their legitimacy, and how serious they are to be taken. While male rappers have more freedom to label themselves, the same can't be said of female rappers. She's either the unappealing conscious lyricist or the vulgar sex pot.
While the ubiquitous "rapper who only talks about sex" label is primarily aimed at women rappers, it's a lazy one-dimensional take on these dynamic artists. A new classification, however, has emerged in this new era. It's The Girl Next Door. Known as a movie trope where her accessibility is tied to a male protagonist, hip-hop's version of the Girl Next Door sees the female rapper who establishes her presence and sets goals for herself, first, and other women. And there is no other female artist who exemplifies this than Bay Area rapper and social media influencer Saweetie. She's Hip-Hop's Girl Next Door.
Born in Hayward, California, Saweetie, whose real name is Diamonté Quiava Valentin Harper, was built for the spotlight. There've been assertions that she's being forced on audiences as her online presence seems inescapable. And while she may appear to have come out of nowhere, that is not the case.
Saweetie is a self-made woman, and her breakout was a long time coming. She began songwriting at 13. The California native held education in the same high regard as music. After high school, Saweetie first attended San Diego State University, studying communication and business. Her dream school, however, was the University of Southern California (USC). Even though it was a struggle, including doubting family members and a letter to the Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism, Saweetie soon transferred to USC.
"But I promised myself if I got into USC, it was a sign I needed to finish college," she recalls during an interview with the Daily Trojan.
Saweetie's work ethic has been a constant fixture in her journey. While at USC, she held down four jobs. It speaks to the hustling attitude that has garnered her the visibility and attention she's enjoying today. Creating her own t-shirt brand, the 'My Type' singer also worked at a sports bar and Marshalls. On top of all that, Saweetie worked as a research assistant for a professor named Ann Majchrzak. The professor spoke on Saweetie's tremendous work ethic, recalling how she put in "several hundred hours" coding for a research project over a few months.
Despite the hectic school and work schedule, Saweetie still honed her musical skills. She would write rhymes every day on her nearly 2-hour commute to USC from Northridge. For an individual who most audiences write off as just being "pretty," she's not afraid of hard work.
The two most remarkable catalysts of Saweetie's rise are her relatability and consistency. She leaned into social media very early, showcasing not only her skills but her personality as well. She only had $40 to her name in 2017 when a freestyle posted on Instagram would change everything for her.
My Neck My Back- Saweeti Freestyle
Rapping over Khia's "My Neck, My Back" beat, Saweetie launched herself into viral superstardom. The song would eventually become "Icy Grl," giving her the first big song and break into the music industry. She then met her manager Max Gousse and signed to his label Artistry Worldwide, in partnership with Warner Records. The Freestyle gave an authentic birth to her ICY calling card and brand.
The Icy Girl branding is the crux of Saweetie's persona and artistry. After her break out hit with 'Icy Grl,' Saweetie caught another viral moment with her "High Maintenance" freestyle. She rode that moment into the debut of her first EP of the same name. She hit significant adversity with her infamous Hot97 Freestyle, creating the "she's pretty, but can't rap" narrative, which she still deals with today. However, that did not stop her.
She moved on to release her second EP, Icy, in 2019. It featured her biggest hit thus far, 'My Type'. Next was 'Tap In' in 2020, earning Saweetie her second Top 10 placement on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. She's continued her streak of hot catchy singles with 'Back to the Streets' alongside Jhene Aiko and the girl power anthem 'Best Friend' record featuring Doja Cat.

Saweetie's perseverance with music best represents her Icy Girl moniker. Even with harsh critics dismissing her rap skills and online threads continuously dragging her, she "bosses up," accepts responsibility, and works through the problem.
"I'm really grateful for my start," Saweetie says in Cosmopolitan's March cover story. "Because the mistakes, the struggle, the grind—it allows me to appreciate the rewards that come now because I know what it feels like to sleep in motels, to drive and do promo, to be stressed out."
Being an Icy Girl aims to be the best version of yourself and want better things in life.
"It's not always about being iced up or stuntin' on hoes. Icy to me is hustling and having the mentality of getting what you said you was gon' get. Everything I was gon' get, I got. It's very important to believe in yourself — and that's what an icy girl and an icy boy is."
More than just defining what the Icy brand is, Saweetie cements her influence by making it relatable and accessible for other women. It's what makes her hip-hop's Girl Next Door. She's the girly-girls best friend. Motivated and aggressive, yet warm and inviting. She will interact with her fans and hype up the dance videos made to her records. She doesn't base her career or validation on the success of a boyfriend or male suitor.
Saweetie upholds this self-assured independence as a standard. It, in turn, sets an example for the women, who admire her beauty and confidence, to follow. That is the secret behind Saweetie. The music speaks it, the online personality reinforces it, and her boss moves manifest it. Her overall likability and branding have already gone past her music. It's the fuel behind her consistent digital presence.
When you see her, she's always having fun, looks fantastic, and aspires to bigger and better. Who wouldn't want to get next to that?

Vegas rapper, Qweezy’, dropped a dope new mixtape titled One Of A Kind! The title describes exactly who Qweezy’ is as an artist, one of a kind, as he is separating himself from other under the radar artists.
“I came up with the title while reflecting on the versatility and unpredictable approach I have to certain tracks or beats when I first hear them. Where I’m from, I honestly haven’t heard anyone who is super soulful and authentic, but can also sting a beat at the same time like that.”
Qweezy' - Ramble (Official Video)
Qweezy’ opens up about his personal life as he hopes to inspire others through his own story.
“I just wanted to let the next person know that it’s okay to be or feel different. Your gift is for you and another person’s gift is for them. Don’t shy away from it. Also, reminding myself and listeners that with all you have going on, life still has to go on, so as you reflect, don’t sit still.”
The mixtape features 11 tracks with multiple features from rising artists such as TarikHavok, Tavious Soul, MARJON, Jaeshaun Tays, Rickie B., and DarviannaMajor! Our favorite track is “Ramble” where he shares his personal thoughts.
“‘The Plate’ is pretty dope (shoutout to Tavious Soul) and my favorite track would probably have to be “My Sincerity” (shoutout to Jaeshaun Tays).”
His previous projects, Perspectives and his EP Q3, showed that Qweezy’ is definitely an artist that needs to be on everyone’s radar but this project shows his lyrical growth as well as production quality.
“You can definitely hear the growth. I got a little bit more personal, while balancing Vibes, and the production/Mixing/Mastering elevated from the previous as well. I had more time to spend with this project than the previous. Though both are dope projects, growth is my goal. I have a great ear for music, and a great eye for art, so I know I’ve made progress for sure.”
The pandemic has forced artists to be creative in how they manage to create and put out music but Qweezy’ has remained focused through it all.
“It’s been tough, because with the pandemic comes personal life as well... so to balance all of it and stay focused is a task in itself. I just always reverted back to like simple things, listening to music, finding a getaway when/if possible, exercising etc. there’s a few things I’ve been getting after. Doing all of that helps me get back to business a little easier than it could be.”
Even with the release of this mixtape, Qweezy’ is already planning to release more content!
“Definitely more to come, more visuals and different sounds that I want to explore. Thank you for tuning in, and of course I always got Love for whoever has it for me!”

“The name of this project is based on 2020’s vibes as a whole. It’s been a rough year… A lot of death, change, and setbacks so the name dirty game describes all of that I feel.”

North Carolina rapper William Prize dropped one of the hottest projects of this year, titled Dirty Game! If you’re looking for a complete project, no SKIPS, this is it! The title of the project speaks speaks to his perspective on 2020 as a whole.
“The name of this project is based on 2020’s vibes as a whole. It’s been a rough year… A lot of death, change, and setbacks so the name dirty game describes all of that I feel.”
His previous project “I am Prize Vol” was solid and this project definitely did not disappoint. Prize is preparing to release his 1st album in the near future.
“Honestly I just wanted to ride the waves of my last project “I am Prize vol. 1” while getting people excited for my first official album “Up From Here”. Also these are a bunch of loose tracks, and tracks that didn’t make the albums revision.”
It’s hard to choose a top track for this project but our favorites for this project are “Hibachi” and “Clocxs” as both speak to real situations in relationships as well as bring a true 90s hip hop vibe.
“For me the answer my favorite tracks are interchangeable between the songs “Dirty Game” and the following track “Rebox”. Both songs intel a lot of things that perspired during my personal life and all of the current events occurring in the media, particularly in the African American and Latino communities, while also giving off crazy vibes with production from myself and Cidy Pyramids. Both of those are more than necessary listens!”
William Prize separates himself from other mainstream artists out today by continuing to evolve from project to project and maintaining authenticity within his lyrics by speaking on real issues. Progression is an element that Prize expects to push his projects forward.
“The progression for sure, that’s really what you can expect from any of my next projects; progression, and it being the separating factor from my last.”
With the pandemic affecting the world in many different ways, artists have had to adapt and stay creative, which is not an easy task.
“I think the pandemic gave me time to get more creative, take it back to the garage days with this shit, you know? Also gave me a lot of time to cross my t’s and dot my i’s business wise so it wasn’t hard staying focused at all for me.”
Dirty Game is a definite must listen and a good preliminary project to set up his album release.
“‘UP FROM HERE’ COMING SOON ! THATS IT! I just wanna thank everyone for tapping into this interview and with my music as well, it means a lot to me.”

Florida rapper WAASI Shade dropped a dope new visual to his single “Feel No Way”. The single was featured on his most recent album Soulo II , which was a solo project aside from his group WAASIKeso. WAASI Shade left one single message on his video description, “Fight your demons.”
The video starts off with WAASI Shade sitting in the car dealing with his emotions and masking his feelings with a bottle of liquor which gives meaning to the title “Feel No Way”. Then he proceeds to wander off in the forest where he battles with himself and his demons. The song and visual serves as a motivator for people to go within and not to run from their issues using stimulants. Life gets hard sometimes and sometimes we all need a reminder to keep pushing, and this video does just that. Check out the video below!

Lona Talks The Release Of His Album "Heart Of The Summer"
Texas rapper Lona, dropped his new album titled “Heart Of The Summer”, featuring 20 tracks!
“I was inspired by a lot from heartbreak to personal adversity, the climate of the world, triumph, defeat; just a host of emotions and experiences to be honest.”
By: Omar Cook
“I’m appreciative of all the love and support. i poured my heart into this so it means a lot to know people are not only listening but connecting with the music.”
Texas rapper Lona, dropped his new album titled “Heart Of The Summer”! Lona did not hold back on this project as he delivered 20 tracks on the album with features from other rising artists including Nayome, Kennyraccs, and LAW.
“The title was a metaphor my cousin used to describe my spirit in a conversation at a low point in my life. It stuck with me as I was working through it and eventually it became the title for this project. I was inspired by a lot from heartbreak to personal adversity, the climate of the world, triumph, defeat; just a host of emotions and experiences to be honest.”
This project features a lighter tone in music opposed to his previous projects which is probably just what people need with the current state of the world.
“I wanted to open up more of myself to people, one of my closest cousins pointed out my music could be really dark and moody but I’m not always that way so I made it a point to do more upbeat records this time around to show the side of me people don’t always see. I hoped to create a bright summer soundtrack for people to live to while at the same time sharing some inner thoughts I’d maybe hinted at but not really spoken on and also share things people may not have known about me.”
The pandemic slowed up life for a lot of people but it is still a great time for artists releasing music as artists have had time to be creative and put together dope projects.
“The pandemic definitely affected me in a lot of ways, cause for one I was homeless during the majority of it and the year which was a battle of its own. Which is something that really drove me during the creation of this project. It also stopped me from being able to do all the features in person which would’ve been cool. Just trying to navigate when to put it out also, it’s been so many things going on in the world, I never want to come across tone deaf so I was sitting on it for awhile because of all the social injustice and covid-19.”
The album features a number of dope tracks especially a collab with Nayome titled “Right Back Down”.
“My favorite track if i had to pick one right now today would be ‘Been About’ or ‘Southside Hooligan’. I’m also really proud of the intro and outro so it changes a lot lol.”
Even with the recent release of this album, Lona is already preparing for more!
Expect more music, I’m already working on 2 projects for next year. Visuals too, I have some shot already so I’m just waiting for the right time to start letting them go. Also merch and something special I’m cooking up for them so there’s a lot coming.
This is definitely a must listen to project as it is almost guaranteed to give you good vibes as well as lyrics that are relevant and relatable.
I think this one is brighter in the tone of the music and I feel like it came together more organically. with 346 i had a story/concept in mind that I tried to stick to but this time around I just made songs and then picked what fit the best.

Kanye West Says "Harriet Tubman Never Actually Freed The Slaves" At Presidential Campaign Rally
Kanye claims “Harriet Tubman never actually freed the slaves, she just had the slaves go work for other white people” during his first Presidential campaign rally in South Carolina.
By: Omar Cook
Kanye West is no stranger to saying things that are out of pocket, with some notorious quotes such as “George Bush hates Black people” to “Slavery was a choice" but it seems he has found a way to top the shock value of these statements. During his 1st presidential campaign rally in South Carolina, Kanye stated “Harriet Tubman never actually freed the slaves, she just had the slaves go work for other white people.”

Yes, he really said that. Harriet Tubman risked her life to free hundreds of slaves just to have Kanye demean her legacy for his campaign. Kanye seems to have jumped off the deep end and with comments like this, it becomes increasingly difficult to defend him.
Kanye is set to release his new album, Donda, on July 24. You could even go as far as saying that this whole situation from running for President to saying this outrageous comment is a publicity stunt for his upcoming album. Kanye West initially announcing he was running for President was shocking enough, and it’s almost as if we did not take him serious…but he’s dead serious.
Kanye addressed the crowd in a bullet proof vest as he campaigned for signatures necessary to be placed on the candidate list in South Carolina but he has already missed the deadline to submit his candidacy in many key voting states which makes this seem even more for public attention.
It seems as if Kanye was having a mental episode as also broke down in tears as he discussed abortion issues in America.
"My mom saved my life. My dad wanted to abort me. My mom saved my life. There would've been no Kanye West because my dad was too busy. — I almost killed my daughter.” - Kanye West
Oh my God, what is happening pic.twitter.com/4wWgT6tw8O
— philip lewis (@Phil_Lewis_) July 19, 2020
Kanye also proposed a plan to have "no more Plan B," but to go with "Plan A" by proposing $50,000 per year to aid women in child care and said, "It takes a village, no matter how much money you have. Society has been set up for single mothers to never have a village."
In reality, Kanye has no chance of winning an election this late in the game, but it is extremely embarrassing to see him use his platform during this time to make a mockery of the people who are and have fought for injustices in this country, for example, Harriet Tubman. It’s time we all acknowledge that Kanye needs real help that goes beyond just “canceling” him.
Kanye also addressed how we felt about the election results saying “I don’t give a f—k if I win the presidency or not” and said that was important was being “of service of God.” Hopefully things turn out for the best for Kanye but definitely needs an intervention.
